Lesson Plans for August 24-28

Ag Explorations Class (First Year):

An FFA History Timeline is due on Monday at the beginning of class. Students have been given a rubric to help them to complete it successfully.

Students are to memorize and recite the FFA Creed, one of the most important documents in FFA and Agricultural Education history, this week. The Creed is five paragraphs long (a total of only six sentences!)

On Monday, students will be asked to recite at least the first paragraph at sometime during the hour. Tuesday, the second paragraph. Wednesday, the third paragraph. Thursday, the fourth paragraph. Friday, the fifth paragraph. The first student(s) to complete the task are offered opportunities for extra credit. Two students from Girard will have an opportunity to put their speaking abilities against freshmen students from FFA chapters all across Southeast Kansas at Greenhand Conference, coming up in September. Memorizing and reciting the Creed provides students with an opportunity to learn what the FFA is all about while developing public speaking skills and comfort in presenting material in front of peers.

8th Grade Intro to Agriculture:

Students have a worksheet on basic agriculture due Monday. Their notes will help them greatly in completing it.

Students will be completing a unit on basic crops this week and will be participating in a seed germination activity via the "Garden in a Glove" activity.

Small Engines Class:

After completing a unit over engine part identification, the class will be taking a look at how an engine runs, engine cycles, carburetor function, etc.
